From designing invitations to designing bathrooms – I recently had the opportunity to work with Australia’s most well know bathroom brand, Caroma
I’ve been lucky enough over the years to have had some amazing experiences working with some very creative people from all different businesses – usually within the events industry. This opportunity was quite different to my usual collaborations.
I really love to renovate, but admittedly my bank account does not love it so much. So when Caroma asked me to design one of their bespoke bathroom capsules for the new Adelaide Flagship, I was thrilled. Here was an opportunity to spend someone else’s money and immediately I was itching with ideas.
The brief was simple – to design a bathroom space that represents my style and will inspire others who visit the Caroma space. There were no rules, and I loved that. As ideas formed in my mind, I was excited to be able to show people how to use unexpected items and themes in a space that can sometimes be “safe” when it comes to design.
Colour plays an integral part in the element of design. My style changes as per my mood swings hence why I try and stick to a neutral palette (such as black and white) and then can add/subtract colour with ease. The shower screen artwork that I added by Madeline Ritchie is a perfect example of this. I also love adding tactile elements that add a haptic experience.
I think what I ultimately created is a space that’s a little cheeky. It’s intriguing and surprising. I am completely in love with it! And how cool is the monkey light from Design Twins!
