Thankfully, baby showers have evolved and lost a lot of the cliché. There are some absolutely beautiful, sweet baby shower themes that are trending right now. Here are some of our favs.
Ready to Pop
Ready to Pop? A literal interpretation of how the mumma to be might be feeling by the time the baby shower rolls around. You can base this theme around popcorn – set up a coloured popcorn bar for your party favours or my personal favourite, champagne. While mamma may not be able to enjoy the sparking right now, popping the champagne when she does “pop” is a great way to celebrate. Just have some non-alcoholic on hand for the guest of honour to soften the blow!
Sweet As Can Bee
Sweet As Can Bee. This baby shower theme beautifully incorporates soft yellows or gold with black to make it perfect for a gender neutral soiree. Style your event with beautiful yellow flowers such as tulips or daffodils, black and white striped straws with your mason jars for drinking and little pots of honey for your party favours. If you don’t know the sex of the little one on the way, incorporate a “What will it Bee” element to your theming and activities.
Baby in Bloom
Baby in Bloom. This sweet baby shower theme can be interpreted in many ways. A floral bloom theme would be stunning – beautiful flowers as far as the eye can see. However, succulents are very popular right now and much a cute, gender neutral shower theme. Style with succulents and embrace the rustic feel this gives to your event. Incorporate timber and burlap wherever you can. Gift your guests little succulents of their own, displaying the message “watch me grow” so they are reminded of the adventure that is about to take place.
Nacho Average Baby Shower
Nacho Average Baby Shower. Throw the mamma-to-be a Fiesta she will never forget. With this baby shower theme you can have so much fun with vibrant pops of colours and plays on words. “Nacho Average Baby Shower” or “Taco bought a great party”. Delicious food not to be forgotten – an epic “make your own nachos” an absolute must. Search for “fiesta” when looking for decorations and you are sure to find what you need.
Oh Baby!
Oh Baby! Sweet and simple, the “Oh Baby” baby shower theme allows you creative freedom to bring it to life however you like. The cursive writing takes centre stage and inspires a whimsical, but modern feel. Gold foil makes an appearance when styling an “Oh Baby” shower and allows metallic splashes across the event. The simplicity also lends itself perfectly to naked and semi naked cakes – hooray!
Oh the Places You’ll Go
Oh The Places You’ll Go. Based on an all time favourite book of mine, the sweet words of Dr Seuss inspire hot air balloons to sore and pretty colours in abundance. A little bit quirky and a whole lot nostalgic, this baby shower may seems left of centre at first but its all about the hidden message. Cupcakes, cookies, macarons – use colourful sweet treats to bring the fun to life.
Showered with Love
Showered With Love. The party may be for the mamma but the love is shared with the little one on the way – shower both with lots of love and happiness at the baby shower. Takes this gorgrous theme one of two ways. Dial up the “love” element by using love hearts as your hero element. Or dial up the “showered” element by using a rain shower design as your inspiration. Umbrellas and raindrops are super cute and can be used with any colour scheme you desire.
Twinkle Twinkle it’s a Baby Sprinkle
Twinkle Twinkle It’s a Baby Sprinkle. Perfect when you want to throw a shower for a mamma to be the second time around. Like a “miniature” version of a shower – with just as much love. Incorporate stars into your theming instantly bringing to mind the popular nursery rhyme. Or use sprinkles (the ones you put on top of your ice cream) as your inspiration. Sprinkles are colourful and sweet and easy to use in a number of ways when styling your event.
He or She (Gender Reveal)
He or She? Turn the baby shower in to a gender reveal party and announce the sex of the little one on the way. You can use some of the themes above to help prescribe your styling. “How we wonder what you are” or “He or she, what will it bee”. And a quick google search will help you find a creative way to make the official announcement.
